Learning Lincoln Douglas Debate

The National Forensic League proudly presents Learning Lincoln Douglas Debate. This is the perfect companion to the NFL’s online text and series of lesson plans, available at: www.teachingdebate.org/ld. This instructional DVD is intended as a tutorial for students and coaches alike, and can be used in the classroom, or to catch up a student who has missed instruction.

The DVD is hosted by two coaches who wrote the NFL’s LD Debate lesson plan series. Hall of Fame coach Pam Cady Wycoff of Apple Valley High School in Minnesota introduces Lincoln Douglas Debate, explaining its benefits and what makes it unique. Scarsdale High School, New York coach Joe Vaughan brings his award-winning coaching experience and process-oriented mind as a science teacher to the segments that parallel the lesson plans: What is an Argument? * Understanding Values * Refutation and Clash * Case Structure * Research Methods * Structure of a Round * Cross-Examination * Flowing * Crystallization and Voting Issues

Additionally, the DVD includes a demonstration debate by two alumni champion debaters, with commentary by Mr. Vaughan.

To purchase the DVD for classroom use complete with instructional material, visit the NFL Online Store.

All beginning debaters should see this! And even if you are experienced, it’s a great review. It helped me so much in covering key concepts I never quite understood. This is a great video and I thank the people who made it for making LD a world easier for me!

Ok it did indeed help me with my criteria, but I’m, jz for me being a novice debater, I really am not used to pointing out words when people talk way to fast to even understand. I guess its just have to be something I got to get used too
